BYAC is a training centre and working farm teaching emaSwati youth (male and female) the skills to run their own farms based near Manzini, eSwatini. We focus on empowering youth from rural areas across eSwatini to gain the skills to be able to start their own micro farming enterprises – youth who do not have the education or skills to gain formal employment. 70% of youth trained at BYAC have completed a primary school education only, with most of the remained never having completed or even attended primary school. Over a period of five months we train youth to sustainably rear pigs, keep bees and grow annual vegetable crops as well as fruit trees. The youth are also equipped with basic plumbing, electrical and other skills they will need to manage and maintain their own farms as well as with basic business, budgeting and finance skills. The BYAC program aims to provide emaSwati youth with the knowledge, skills and capacity to build resilient, sustainable livelihoods and promote entrepreneurship through farming.
